Our Journey

A Legacy of Resilience

From the "Nnoboa" groups of 1944 to the modern era of restitution and resurgence

1944–1951

The Foundations

Founded in the Ashanti region to break the monopoly of foreign firms like PZ, UAC, UTC and Cadbury & Fry. By 1951, a thriving commercial entity owned by local farmers.

1951–1966

Political Pressure

Despite pressure to politicise, GCMA remained neutral — leading to dissolution in 1962 and the first seizure of assets by the state.

1966–1984

Cycle of Seizure & Restoration

Our licence was restored in 1966, only to be revoked again in 1972 and 1981 by military regimes, leading to total asset confiscation.

1999–2009

The Fight for Justice

In 2009, President Kufuor issued a national decree mandating the total restoration of all seized GCMA assets.

Today

A New Era

We stand on the precipice of a new era, fighting for the full recovery of our property portfolio to leverage it for the benefit of our farmers.
