From Ghana's cocoa fields to global markets — Ghana's original cocoa champions return with innovation, sustainability, and purpose. The Future of Sustainable Cocoa.
GCMA is a premier cocoa and agro-trading company headquartered at 60 Kwame Nkrumah Ave, Adabraka, Accra, Ghana. We are an association born from the soil of Ghana, dedicated to maximising value for the indigenous cocoa farmer.
With 300 purchasing clerks on the ground, we buy directly from the farm gate, ensuring fair pricing and immediate liquidity through digital weighing and payment systems.
Strong Board oversight with specialised committees ensuring world-class accountability, transparency, and long-term value creation for all stakeholders.
47 District Managers coordinate fund distribution, quality control, and logistics, moving the "Golden Pod" from hinterlands to port efficiently.
Integrity. Transparency. World-Class Oversight.
Led by a board chair with over 64 years of cocoa experience and a Managing Director with over 22 years of cocoa trading experience, supported by specialists across finance, trading, operations, logistics, and risk.
Massive real estate holdings across Accra, Kumasi, and nationwide—under recovery to bolster our balance sheet and benefit our farmers.
From the "Nnoboa" groups of 1944 to the modern era of restitution and resurgence
Founded in the Ashanti region to break the monopoly of foreign firms like PZ, UAC, UTC and Cadbury & Fry. By 1951, a thriving commercial entity owned by local farmers.
Despite pressure to politicise, GCMA remained neutral — leading to dissolution in 1962 and the first seizure of assets by the state.
Our licence was restored in 1966, only to be revoked again in 1972 and 1981 by military regimes, leading to total asset confiscation.
In 2009, President Kufuor issued a national decree mandating the total restoration of all seized GCMA assets.
We stand on the precipice of a new era, fighting for the full recovery of our property portfolio to leverage it for the benefit of our farmers.
The Future of Cocoa Is Green — and GCMA Is Leading It. Our strategy is built on green innovation: certification, traceability, renewable-energy-powered warehouses, and circular processing systems. Sustainability is not an add-on; it is our competitive advantage.
